South African Schools using meditation

Children in South Africa’s violent Cape Flats are being taught meditation in an effort to combat the stress of gang violence in their neighborhoods. Cape Town is the 20th most dangerous city in the world, with at least one murder a week. Nazreen Meyer, a Grade 4 pupil said, “I felt so peaceful, that hyper just came out of me. My body just felt gone. I felt like I was in heaven, free from all the danger in my street. It felt so peaceful.”
